CGA LAUNCHES NEW PORTAL AS CURAÇAO’S GAMING SECTOR RESUMES OPERATIONS

The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has launched a new online portal following the recent incident that forced its previous licensing system offline. Licensing processes are now resuming, with further guidance on replacement digital seals expected in the coming days.

Getting a replacement portal in place within a matter of weeks is a significant step for the CGA and Curaçao’s gaming sector. The new system provides a way for regulatory processes to resume while the authority works on a longer-term solution.

As companies begin using the portal, some initial adjustments are to be expected. Access is being established and any issues are being addressed as they arise.

The CGA has decided not to return to the previous portal and intends to develop and manage its replacement internally. Existing licences remain valid, and licence holders must continue to meet their regulatory obligations.

The next step for operators is the transition to replacement digital seals. The CGA is expected to provide further guidance in the coming days on how operators can replace their existing digital seals and what steps they will need to take.

The unauthorised access to the previous system exposed sensitive information relating to companies and individuals. The consequences of the incident remain a serious concern, and the CGA is continuing its work with the relevant authorities to investigate the breach and address its impact.

For Curaçao’s gaming sector, the launch of the new portal means licensing and regulatory processes can begin to resume through the replacement system. With further instructions expected shortly, operators will have a clearer picture of the steps ahead.

Trust Union Curaçao and Coga have also issued a joint statement on the incident, expressing their concern for those affected and their continued support for the CGA. Their full statement follows below.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM TRUST UNION CURAÇAO AND COGA

Recent weeks have been difficult for Curaçao’s online gaming sector. Unauthorized access to the Curaçao Gaming Authority’s licensing portal has exposed sensitive information about companies and individuals, including residents of Curaçao. We share the public’s concern, and our thoughts are first with everyone whose personal data has been affected.

We are clear that illegal access to information systems is unacceptable, whatever the reason given for it. An act like this should not go unpunished. We are confident that the competent authorities, in Curaçao and abroad, will take the appropriate steps, and we leave the path to justice in their hands.

It is important to recognize that this incident has affected legitimate operators, trust offices and individuals who conduct their activities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. They too are victims of this unauthorized access and should not suffer as a result of actions over which they had no control.

Trust Union Curaçao and Coga speak on behalf of the trust offices and the licence holders operating from Curaçao. We understand that questions have been raised about the CGA and how it operates. Those questions deserve proper attention, and there will be a time and place for them. Right now, we believe the priority must be the stability of the sector and the interest of Curaçao as a whole.

The view among licence holders is clear: they want to move forward. They expect the CGA to communicate clearly, take every available legal and technical step to resolve this matter, and keep the sector informed. We believe the CGA should be given the space to do exactly that.

We wish to express our continued trust in the CGA and our sincere support for its efforts to address the consequences of this incident, restore confidence, and safeguard the stability of our regulatory framework.

At times like these, it is important to remember that behind this industry are people, families, and businesses that have dedicated years of hard work, commitment, and hope to building a future in Curaçao. The impact of uncertainty reaches far beyond the industry itself, touching livelihoods and the well-being of our wider community.

It is therefore our heartfelt hope that the period ahead will be guided by understanding, unity, and genuine cooperation between the sector, the authorities, and all stakeholders. By approaching these challenges with mutual respect and a shared sense of responsibility, we hope to prevent further disruption, rebuild confidence, and protect an industry that means so much to Curaçao and its people.

We remain committed to working constructively with the CGA, the government and all parties involved, for the good of the sector and of the island.
